Reviewers' objectives a re to assess 1) a work's novelty and sci entific merit, 2) the authenticity of fi ndings, 3) an article's content (includi ng the scope of the problem under consid eration), 4) principles of exposition (i ncluding logic and style), 5) the corres pondence of a manuscript's title and abs tract to its content, 6) correspondence to the topic of research and the complet eness of the list of publications mentio ned in the article, 7) the composition o f the list of references, and 8) the qua lity and adequacy of illustrations and t ables to the article's content. Members of the editorial board and leading Russi an and international experts in the arti cle’s corresponding area of geography, invited as independent readers, perform peer reviews. Review process should be limited by 2–4 weeks, though in some c ases the schedule may be adjusted at the reviewer’s request. The decision on c hoosing a reviewer for examination of th e article is taken by the editor-in-chie f, deputy editor-in-chief, executive sec retary of the editorial board. Each revi ewer has the right to refuse to review i n case of conflict of interest which cou ld influence on the perception and inter pretation of materials of the manuscript .
