The journal (before 1992 – «Sovetskoe Slavianoved enie») is being published since January 1965 six times a year, an approximate v olume of the issue is 12 printer’s she ets. Currently, it has a circulation of 600 copies. This is the leading journal on Slavic Studies in the Russian Federat ion, which publishes articles, discussio n materials, round-tables reviews, docum ents, critical reviews, bibliographies, chronicles pf scholarly life, informatio n about books published by the Institute and so forth. Thematic issues provide b etter coherence in formation and present ation of materials. From 1992 on, each i ssue no. 2 is dedicated to the Day of Ss . Cyril and Methodius and devoted to the medieval Slavic history and culture, ot her issues deal with cultural history, h istory of literature, linguistics. Autho rs are associates of the Institute of Sl avic Studies of the Russian Academy of S ciences and other national and regional research and educational centres as well as foreign scholars. The journal is wel l known among specialist in Slavic Studi es all over the world (approximately one fifth of its circulation is subscriptio n abroad).
